Hi
I have a wisdom tooth that I want/need taken out - i am on a NHS dentist and
he sent me to the hospital to have it taken out as he could not do it - i
waited like 5 months and missed my appointment so now i need to wait again!!

i am wondering if i can pay and have it done privatley at another dentist?
what kind of procedures can they do - and perhaps my own dentist can do it
privatley? he didnt mention this before tho...

my wisdom tooth it out, but at an angle - he did say i could have it done
udner local anasthetic so i am hoping its not a brutal procedure that can be
done at other dentists...

BUPA charge ?1000+ - how much am i looking at at a local dentist (hampshire)

thanks

Few years ago I watch the local dentist pull out all my wife's wisdom
teeth.  One of them was at an angle so it took a long time.  I think
the hard part was having your mouth open so wide for so long.

If you have to pay your own dentis a fortune, you might look into
taking a trip to India or Thailand and take advantage of the low prices
there.

Czech republic is much closer, you can get from London to Prague in
about two hours and less than 100€, afaik. British students come to
Prague for weekends to get drunk. (I think they call it "stag
parties"). My father just told me there are new charter flights from
London to Brno, 2.5 hours... European union is a good thing :)

Yes sorry about that! A Stag party is usually the last chance for a man to
get drunk with his friends before he gets married - and the beer in the
Czech Republic is very good!

I hope you also get visitors who come for the culture and to meet the
peoplel. I visited the Czech Republic for a international model aircraft
competition in 1996. The competition was at Benesov Airfield not so far from
Konopiste Chateau.

http://www.zamky-hrady.cz/1/konopiste-e.htm

The competition was great and the local people were very friendly. I would
love to visit again some time.

The original poster may like to know that there are flights from Southampton
to Prague.... or he could come here to Belgium. Jump on the Eurostar and
find an English speaking dentist in Brussels.

I wonder how expensive has to be beer around Europe, when it is
affordable for many people to come to Prague for weekend to get drunk
:)

Why not, Europe is kinda small, you can get here in few hours :)

Question is, if Belgic dentists aren't as expensive as English ones...
DrSteve - 27 Mar 2005 00:18 GMT
Here in the USA, we think nothing of driving 700 miles one way for a
vacation.  In Europe, that would cross many borders.

Holland $6.48
United Kingdom $5.79

The USA is about $2.15 I think.

In the UK 700 miles is about 17 Gallons cost around $98. Gold is about $425
an oz so 700 miles is about 1/4 oz of gold.

The UK pays about 83.9 (round my way) for Petrol (a litre) thats 1.57 $ a
litre in US money (it has varied recently from like 79-84p)

dunno what that is in gallons tho

Simple conversion.

A liter equals 1.06 quarts.

Its easy to remember as a two-liter bottle of Coke or if its Steve
Fawks buyin' it, a two liter bottle of Pepsi equals 67.5 ounces or a
little more than two quarts.

Its about that size, or if you drink it by the glass its eight or so
glasses if you go very easy on the ice.

So-o-o-o-oo-o-o-o-o-o, the liter is a little bigger ......

a quart is 32 ounces (4 glasses) and a gallon is 4 quarts or 128
ounces.

So-o-oo-o-o-o-o, $1.57 x 4 / 1.06 equals ........

$5.92 or less than three times what it would cost in the U.S.
Joel M. Eichen - 27 Mar 2005 21:58 GMT
Or according to the internet,

... One liter equals: 202.88 teaspoons: 67.628 tablespoons: 33.814
fluid ounces
... cubic meter: 62.4269 pounds per cubic foot: 998.83 ounces per
cubic foot ...

Over here, the Galaxy was an enormous car built by Ford.  Gas mileage was
terrible.  What is the current Galaxy in Denmark?

I'm driving the Galaxy (turbo desiel version) and get good mpg. Much better
than the petrol powered Ford Focus we had before.
DrSteve - 01 Apr 2005 19:53 GMT
So,,,,,,,,,,, the Galaxy is a variant of the Focus??

The USA Galaxy was about 5,000 pounds of V-8 powered luxury.

Well I guess you could say it looks like a mini-van on the outside - but it
has 7 seats inside.

We have the Focus over here.  Your Galaxy would be a mini-van here.

Talking of small cars I'd quite like to build one of these, or something
like it, one day.

It's a pure electric car that manages 70mph and has achieved 200 mile range
on the official urban test cycle....

A buddy of mine collected 1973 Plymouth Fury's.  Now he is into
Continental's from the same era.  We always make sure to yell "Requesting
permission to come aboard!" prior to getting in the car with him.

I think most UK NHS dentists do private work.

Google finds a few...
http://www.google.com/search?q=private+dentists+hampshire&hl=en&lr=&start=10&sa=N

Here are some in Southampton (which I've no experience of).

http://www.city-centre-dental.co.uk/
http://www.machenbarker.co.uk/

Perhaps there is a dental school in Hampshire that needs people to practice
on?

Give some a call and see what they estimate for an extraction. Take your
existing x-rays along.
