Anybody have good or bad things to say about Lightyear Technology's digital
radiograph system? Especially, I'd like to know how well it incorporates
with Eaglesoft.
Thanks-

I got the sensors from them not the software
I like it. As with all sensor systems there is a learning curve and it
is harder on the patient.

What I did like about their system is the support and warranty.
They give you 5 years with the purchase and after that they will repair
at a very reasonable cost. Typical repair is $300 most complex is
$1200.
Most other vendors make you pay a monthly fee for in case of damage
during the 5 year period.
These sensors are Suni CCD sensors that have been modified by
lightyear.
The USB 2.0 boxes are small and convenient.
Their sensors will work with any version of Apteryx software.
Apteryx actually makes the software for them and many other vendors.
All Aptyeryx software are interchangable in fact on a network 2
different Apteryx software can access the same database without
conflicts.
Very flexible system.
They have a intergration with most practice management systems and for
the one's they don't there is a name grabber mini program that fishes
the info out of your PMS. I have the module for my software and lately
I've been using the Name Grabber since it is faster and can be modified
to fish names out of any software even QuickBooks.
I paid like $12000 for 2 sensors 2 USB boxes 1 Pedo 1 Adult Rinn kit
plus all the applicable drivers. Overall I'm very happy with the amount
of resolution from these sensors. Highly recommend them.

I use Gendex Denoptix phosphor plates.  The whole system with 60 imaging
plates costs about $14K.  Ideally, I would suggest using a phosphor plate
system and one electronic sensor for RCT images (assuming you do
endodontics).  My systems works fantastically with Eaglesoft.  I have not
specifically asked about the Lightyear compatibility, but I doubt it could
be a problem.  Best bet is to email Eaglesoft, or ask your local technology
representative at Patterson.

Thanks for the feedback..I'm really getting close to going digital because I
am about to need a new processor, so I'll just put that $ towards the
digital system.
