Thank you

There are no silver crowns. NONE!

There are base-metal crowns and precious metal crowns. Many are
covered with a porcelain that is fired onto the metal surface. Some
have no porcelain.

Other crowns are all porcelain with no metal.

Then there is composite such as ArtGlass or Targis Vectris.

This has to do with malleability, ductility, etc.

Silver is plain no good for casting into crowns.

Without the silver powder to reinforce it, the mercury fillings tend
to drip out of the cavity too fast .......

You can't really tell from the color.  There are high-noble alloys that are
silver in color and there are crap metals that are gold in color.  Also, many
dental labs put a thin gold electro-coating on crap metal restorations just to
improve their "chairside" appeal.  I suggest that you specify that you want
"high noble".   Expect to pay a bit more for good metal, but in the final
analysis you must depend on the integrity of your dentist and his/her dental
lab.

True, after all Silver could be a
horse color as in Hi-Ho Silver ........

Gold is definitely better than stainless steel, if that's what you
meant by "silver crown"... try posting on a consumer dental board,
you've got a better chance of getting a coherent answer there!
