NO!!!! We do NOT treat a minor infection with the only anti viral we
have.

Find a dentist with a Laser and have it irradiated for a few seconds.

Go to the pharmacy and get a Styptic Pencil ( the white thing we paint
on our faces when we cut ourselves shaving ) and use it on the area. Wet
it with a drop of water first.

Don't know that one. I'll look it up.

There is more than one anti-viral out now.

So I saw; that is one of the regrets I have about canning the Laser: you
could dis-inflame viral lesions overnight by just irradiating them for a
few seconds. No chemical, no anti-virals. I still don't think exposing
minor viral eruptions (which are often already strile when the peak
inflammatory phase ensues) to acyclovir and running the risk of forcing
them to mutate.

Agree that some anti-virals should be reserved for something like
hepC/B infections. Ribavirin is another A/V that comes to mind.

HSV1/2 can be quite debilitating in some patients and
acyclovir shortens the duration of the outbreak.
It should not be withheld from those who suffer frequent
and serious outbreaks.

Virii mutate often enough naturally, I see no reason
to withhold them in appropriate circumstances.

For prevention next time you get dental work:
1000 mg L-Lysine three times per day until symptoms subside.  Begin taking
them before the dental appointment, or at the prodromal stage (when tingling
and itching begins before the outbreak).

After the outbreak, there are a few things that will speed healing, but none
give immediate relief.  I like the topicals like Denavir and Zovirax.  I
don't have much experience with docosanol (aka--Abreva) available OTC.
Anybody use it with success?
