Hello,
I have a premolar which was sensitive to cold a few weeks ago. Thats
happened to me before and turned out to be sinusitis, or at least realted to
sinus pressure.

ANYHOW, this tooth has never HURT, but has had some discomfort if I put a
lot of pressure on it, but never when eating, etc. Its not bothering me
today at all, but now I have a tender spot on the gum up above the tooth,
way above the gum line. I am assuming it could be a fistula, but its not
soft, its as if the bone is tender, ot the skin on top of the bone. It is
very hard and is not leaking anything. Its almost as if I brushed over the
bone too hard and skinned it. The bone, however, is more "lumpy" than  the
other side of the mouth.

I was wondering if this could be a fistula, having realased the pressure by
somehow boring thru the bone?

If this is a fistula, I assume that means I have an abcess, is this
something my dentist can perform or will I need to see an endontist?

I am seeing my dentist next week sometime, but wanted to ask since its on my
mind today.

thanks for any advice

Quick guess. You will need root canal therapy soon.

Yes.

Either one ...... I would see a specialist.

The x-ray will tell you if you have an abscess. Is the bump above the gum
there all the time? It could just be an abrasion from food.
