I was trying to be non-controversial.

I do not want to get reported for ADVERTISING Flap's Blog!

Well, my blog is non-commercial, so you would not be advertising.

I seem to be a bit out of it...but what exactly is a blog? Most seem to be
collections of news stories from elsewhere. Is that the idea of these
things?

Blog = Web Log

And there are different types.

Hugh Hewitt has a book on Amazon that explains them fairly well.

But do not start with RSS-feeds.

The SMD gang does not want to hear another word about that!

Most newspapers e.g. N.Y Times and Blogs have RSS feeds.  This allows
for instantaneous publishing onto the reader's desktop.

In fact, SMD has an RSS feed and I read and post through Onfolio and
Google Groups.  I no longer have to use an old style type newsreaper
like Outlook Express etc.

My Blog has an RSS feed as do all of them hosted by Blogspot.

Where is the newsreaper (and what is he wearing right now) and where
do you get the SMD RSS-feed?

I get the SMD RSS feed at home since I gave my laptop to my son who
attends Purdue University.

Google - Google Groups and follow the instructions and threads.  It
also helps to have a g-mail account.

HOW?

I did not know SMD publishes RSS. Yes there is an nntp to javascript
conversion but that is only useful for viewing on HTML.

You can read SMD in Google Groups and I am using Onfolio and Firefox.

Check out their sites and add the RSS feed or to any RSS reader.

I will never use Outlook Express again!

Okay, got it.

You are using FireFox as a substitute for Microsoft Outhouse and you
are reading the html version of smd there.

Actually Onfolio is my streamer and screener.  It allows me to stream
to all of my blogs and other RSS feeds.

It also allows me to organize all of this information and do different
tasks with it.

It is in Beta and is free.

Check it out!  There is an edition for IE and Firefox.

Blog means weBLOG or WEB LOG.

Go see Flap's to see how it works. Flap blogs stuff rather than copy
it as we do.
