BTK is part of "everyone."
Therefore Jan knew that BTK was lying.
Something goin on there.

everything BTK said about himself was lies!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He claims he was born in 1939, which would make his current age 64 or
65.
His father died in World War II, and his mother raised him.
His mother was forced to work, so his grandparents cared for him.
His mother worked during the day near the railroad.
He had a cousin named Susan, who moved to Missouri.
His family moved a lot, but always lived near a railroad.
His grandfather played the fiddle and died of a lung disease.
His mother started dating a railroad detective when BTK was around 11
years old. This relationship would have occurred during the years 1950
to 1955.
In the early 1950s he built and operated a ham radio.
He has participated in outdoor hobbies including hunting, fishing and
camping.
As a youth, he attended church and Sunday school.
He had a female Hispanic acquaintance named Petra, who had a younger
sister named Tina.
Around 1960, he went to tech military school. He then joined the
military for active duty and was discharged in 1966.
He has a basic knowledge of photography and the ability to develop and
print pictures.
In 1966, he moved back in with his mother, who had remarried and was
renting out part of his house.
His first job was as an electro-mechanic, requiring some travel.
After attending more tech school, he worked repairing copiers and
business equipment; this sometimes required travel and he was away for
extended periods.
He admits to soliciting prostitutes.
He has a lifetime fascination with railroads and trains.
Based upon the investigation to date, police believe that BTK:
Frequented the WSU campus in the 1970s.
Was acquainted with PJ Wyatt, who taught a folklore class at WSU in
the 1970s.
He has written or still writes poetry. An example of this is the "Oh
Anna, Why Didn't you appear" poem and the "Oh! Death to Nancy" poem
that were released in earlier media advisories.
Utilized fake identification to gain access to people's homes or to
conduct surveillance.
***********************************************************
Someone told me before he was full of @#%$ and now I believe most of
any clues he gave was just an intended red hiering. Just like the
obvious spelling mistakes, just a con job. Well had us thinking alot
of nonsense and wasted precious resource. But really, its now fitting
together just how on the ball wpd actually were with everything. I
think on a positive note that LE in general will learn alot of
valuable knowledge and proceedure from this case for future sk or the
like. It hasnt been a complete waste I am sure. Perhaps techniques
learned from this case will save the lives of many more people than
the 8 it cost. I hope something positive is salvaged from this
tragedy.

I'm trying to figure out why my post in this topic was deleted.
I guess I need to just really not come back here now since LE
indicates they are 90% sure this IS him, just waiting on the DNA test.
I really can't think of what I said that needed to be censored....no
names were mentioned, I think I just said it was kinda crazy to
believe he'd have given everyone a check list to lead people to his
door in the first place. Whatever.
Whether the LE learned anything from this case or not, I'm sure every
case they work can be a learning experience in some way. I also
believe, as I've posted before, that the harsh critics they've had
will hopefully be pleasantly surprised at every particle of evidence
they bring into the courtroom and the depth of testing and
investigation that went on over the years. There are unsolved crimes
everywhere, not just Wichita, KS.

People were nuts to believe he gave a check list to lead them to him
in the first place. All it did was make people suspect guys like the
poor dude who had his house torn apart & was hauled into jail
wrongfully.
I'm sure for a guy who gets his kicks watching people & little kids
die thought this was a really huge knee-slapper.

lol....I was trying to figure out who I'd slandered except btk!
And I know you realize when I make a quip about something being a
knee-slapper, it's not meant to make light of this whole horrible
situation.

I have a feeling those who have been critical all along will probably
take credit now for being critical and say it helped things along.
Plus, since being critical is their nature, they'll find other things
to criticize as time goes along saying "I can't believe they
didn't...." or "Why didn't they...". To them, I say "Criticize this."

The only criticism I have is that I truly wish the investigation had
been more proactive all along, as far as releasing information to the
public. I just can't help thinking that public knowledge may have led
to his capture sooner (but that of course, may just be my particular
mindset).
I would like to say, however,
Congratulations!
and
THANK YOU!!!!
to all LE involved in this. You did good.

When you think about it, tho, when there's been a news conference or
something & we hear they had 5000 tips called in, can you imagine
checking ALL of those out? And I've heard upwards of that number at
times, too. I've also wondered if they'll share how the turnover in
the PD has affected things over the years, getting new people up to
speed, and I hope they'll share what the stumbling blocks were. Of
course, we always hear of someone finally being sent to prison on
something & matching dna that was gathered somewhere a decade earlier
so they can finally try someone for the crime. You can have all the
dna of the perp you want, but if you never have occasion to run a test
against someone, that won't help. Usually crimes have more than one
person involved in some way, so eventually someone squeals to someone
else or police & helps lead to the perp. A guy like this, acting
randomly, was apparently called in with thousands of others that were
perceived as weird & needed to be checked out, but how far can they go
in checking someone out from a tip like that?

The reporter on KSN just said Nola would be prosecuting the case
personally, and I can tell you it's kind of a long-standing joke in
the legal community that she only tries the cases where it's slam-dunk
evidence.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not sure all the statements made were
directly from BTK. Some of them were probably inferred by what was
known and how it was known. Some of the statements may actually prove
to be either true, or pretty darn close! I think this shows that LE
was doing all they could to piece together a suspect profile. And, in
reality, it worked, since he didn't turn himself in. Good job, LE!

Arrest Announced In Serial 'BTK' Murder Case
Dennis L. Rader Is Municipal Employee In Park City, Kan.
POSTED: 7:01 am PST February 26, 2005
UPDATED: 2:54 pm PST February 26, 2005
WICHITA, Kan. -- Police in Witchita, Kan., say they've attributed two
more slayings to the BTK serial killer, now linking him to 10 killings
in all.
Authorities announced Saturday that they've arrested a man they believe
terrorized the city throughout the 1970s and then resurfaced about a
year ago after 25 years of silence.
Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams speaks at a press conference,
announcing the arrest of a man they suspect of being the "BTK" serial
killer.
Timeline: BTK Case
Video: Police: 'BTK Is Arrested'
Authorities identified the suspect as Dennis Rader. The 59-year-old
worker in Park City, Kansas, was arrested Friday at his suburban home.
Wichita Police Chief Norman Williams said at a press conference that the
police have identified and apprehended him as the "BTK" killer. "The
bottom line: BTK is arrested," he said.
Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius told The Associated Press that officials
familiar with the case have told her that DNA evidence links the suspect
to the killings.
No charges have been filed. And prosecutors say the death penalty won't
apply to any crime committed before 1994, when the death penalty was
introduced in Kansas.
The killer had been linked to eight killings between 1974 and 1986. The
newly attributed slayings occuured in 1985 and 1991.
"BTK" stands for "Bind, Torture, Kill." After years of silence, the
person believed to be "BTK" contacted The Wichita Eagle a year ago.
Since then he's communicated several more times, partly through packages
mailed to Wichita TV station KAKE.
