Who has one in their office?  What kind?  What did you spend for it.

We need 'em in Florida by Feb. 2006.

Should I be embarassed to say I have no idea what AED stands for?

Only if your response is "what does AED stand for?" when the plaintiff's
attorney asks why didn't use it on Mrs. Jones when she went into V-fib.

Interesting--not a word about it yet in NY.

That's surprising.  All airlines, and most schools, shopping malls, etc.
have them now.  It makes sense for dental/medical offices to have them.

Of course, my brother in Pembroke Pines writes his return address as
"God's waiting room"

No not yet. They are not required at this time.

Would recommend talking to an EMT, they are the ones
on the front line that probably use them the most.

Rugged, durable, and no question that it will work when needed
are the attributes I would look for.

The ones I have seen are around $3K, but are foolproof.

What means foolproof?

Never "stand clear" and "shock" a normally beating heart!

That and higher magnification are what's on my 'to buy' list for next
month.

Of course in a dental office the most likely person to need the AED unit
would be ......the dentist!

This is especially true when we find out the patient has grabbed the
insurance check!

We have one in each office and were lucky to purchase them through an
EMT friend of one of my partners. I believe we got them for $1700
each. A story was in the local paper about two years ago about how
7-11's (or some mini-mart) were now carrying them. I still dont think
they are mandatory in DE but we figured it was only a matter of time.

We have the Medtronic lifepak and it is idiot proof.

I thought you were in south Jersey--was I wrong, or did you move?

I live in south jersey and work in DE. My wife is a GP in our town and
let me tell you, I certainly appreciate my neighbors thinking that I
am either a stay-at-home-dad or whatever else.

For the record, we are moving soon to the great pleasure of my wife.

Depending on which office I am at, its either the Commodore or the
Delaware Memorial.

Summer time means I am doubly screwed; Rehoboth or NJ beach traffic
leads to a coin toss on the way home. Not fun. Sometimes the 24mi
drive can take 2.5hrs.

The good news is I eliminate one definate traffic jam at the new
locale.

BELL Helicopters, out in Mirabel Qc has just been awarded the contract
to make some small city commuting-type whirly-birds. I think this will
put an end to the noise problem with these things. Personally, I think
the answer to this problem is the good ol' AutoGyro type of air vehicle.
There was a parish priest around here ( in the countryside parishes
somewhere ) who learned to an the AutoGyro to go and visit his
parishoners, who were from the surrounding farms and whatnot. It
actually made it on to one of those local content Tee Vee programs.
