In June 2004, I had some deep pockets that were caused by
a fractured tooth root (#15). Symptoms included constant
upper gum discomfort and chewing pain. The tooth was
extracted. Immediately after the extraction, I still had the
upper gum discomfort (slightly different - almost numb), but
now I also had a bad taste in my mouth. Even to this day, the
discomfort and taste persist. I can "suck" on that area and
cause more taste. I've taken antibiotics and that did not help. Two
ear, nose, throat doctors say that the problem is dental - no sinuses
are involved. My periodontist and dentist are stumpted. Any ideas?
Can you suggest the type of specialist I should see?
Thanks for any ideas.

Yes, bone was added during the extraction.

Perhaps an oro-antral fistula.
Consult with an oral surgeon.
