Hello everyone. Well quick background. I have a front tooth that had a root
canal done about 4 years ago. It is yellowish in color due to the root
canal. Last night I was eating a bagel and my lower teeth bumped pretty hard
into the back of my upper teeth. Well my front right big tooth (root canal
one) became a little loose. If I lightly wiggle it at the bottom of the
tooth I can feel it moving and my gum moving a little in that spot. I dont
know if I cracked a bone up in my gum area or what. Well Im not eating on it
Im using my back and side teeth. I tried to make an appointment earlier
today but they arent open until tuesday! What can I do between now and
tuesday! Allso what do u think they will tell me what my options are. If I
wiggle the tooth at the top its pretty sturdy and doesnt move at all. Also
seems to be a little pain above tooth in gum area. Is it possible that it
will re heal and become strong again. Thank you all for your help!

Nothing to worry about today. What is done is done and it is not the
bagel.
MY GUESS: The root canal did not work out as well as expected and you
have root resorption. It may spell disaster.
Do you have other missing teeth and how old are you?
EXPLORE options today, so you will not be surprised on Tuesday!

Quite likely a broken tooth, too.

Something similar happened to my dad last year. In his case, he bit
down on a piece of (hard) chocolate and a tooth (that also had a root
canal done) broke off. Now he has a bridge in place of the tooth.

Root canal teeth become brittle. A widened canal (through
instrumentation) may weaken the supporting structures. That is why
many RCT teeth are crowned.

I had one patient where I got the x-ray back from the endodontist, and
I could not find any tooth structure left! It was all root canal
filling. I kept looking at the x-ray wondering how my post would ever
hold.
(This reinforces Steve Mancuso's theory about breakage).
Fortunately, the patient never showed!

Makes sense. I'm quite sure the tooth wasn't crowned. I assume
bridges are often more expensive than crowns (?) ...it's funny how you
think you're saving money, when really ...

Thank you everyone for that info. I am just so nervous about having a blank
spot in the front of my mouth.. Whats a crown??

If you lose the tooth, you can probably get an implant. Or a plate.

If a tooth requires extraction, I always have a temporary replacement,
either a removable flipper, or I make a Monodont or other glued-in
temporary.

Absolutely correct.
Whenever I see damage, I can't help but wander back ten or twenty
years in my own mind and imagine what I would have done ......
I never mention this to the patient as it would be unethical.
