Hi All,
How long does it normally take for a wisdom tooth to fully expose itself
after a part of the tooth has broken through the gum?
My lower right tooth appears to be growing straight up but only the front is
visible. My gum is swollen behind in the rough shape of the tooth so I'm
guessing (hoping!?!) that the rest will break through eventually.
I have read that a partial eruption describes this case exactly, how long
will it take for me to tell whether the tooth will keep going or if it has
stopped and it'll need to come out?
Thanks
Jac

Months to on occasion several years.
But the pain is intermittent in either case.

Get an x-ray!
It could damage the adjacent tooth.

Between 2 weeks and 50 years

maybe yes, maybe no

Usually as long as it takes your dentist to expose an x-ray image and
measure the space where the wisdom tooth is trying to erupt.

Would you say that digital is faster than film?

Absolutely it is faster and a better image in most cases too!

It will take until you are examined and radiographed IRL by a licensed dentist.
