Fixed Bridge - RCT

I have a fixed bridge accross the top front bicuspid to bicuspid cemented to
posts. An abcess has developed in in the root on the left side and the
bridge on this side has loosened. The dentist has not been able to loosen
the right side so as to remove the bridge to do the root canal.

Anybody seen this or have any ideas for this nightmare.

The larger the bridge, and the worse the condition of the abutments, the
greater the risk for a catastrophic failure.

Doing a root canal through a crown is usually not a big deal, but if
the bridge is loose from the abutments on one side, that cannot be
ignored for very long.

If it will not break loose on the opposing side, it will have to be
cut off and remade (This assumes the root canal is successful and the
abutments are sound. Decay may be responsible for the bridge
coming loose as well as the abcess, in which case the bridge
would need to be remade anyway).

Best guess from here,

Fawks

I agree 100%.

Long spans require double abutting the distal most points at minimum.

Can an endodontist drill through the
bridge to access the root canal space?

PS- How many abutments versus
how many missing teeth is the bridge?

Well thanks all, actually the bridge is all I got left up there, (use a
partial) so if he can't fix it looks like I'll be going full denture. Yeah,
he said something about trying to drill thru it, but I'm not too hopeful.
