I have two wisdom teeth that have fairly large cavities in them. My
Dentist said he can drill and fill or extract. Both covered by
insurance. What would you recommend for your patients? Thanx in
advance.

I'm not a dentist but I think most people would say ...try and keep your own
teeth as long as possible. If you fill them now you can always have them
extracted later. Can't easily do it the other way around!

FILL!
Wisdom teeth are still teeth.
If it does not work out, an extraction is always possible.

It depends on your occlusion, your daily oral hygiene, the vertical
height of the teeth, the distance to the retro-molar pad, the amount
of caries, etc.

I have seen more cases where I wondered why anyone
would fill a wisdom tooth than I have seen where I said
I'm glad that tooth is still there (*very rarely*).

Yes, I kind of agree with that but again, that is a statistical
approach. Every person's tooth is THEIR tooth, so I give it a try
where appropriate.

I agree Michael. Seems so simple yet so many do not listen!
