Health First is what I have for now. I heard it's not that
popular with dental services because doctors don't make much
out of it. All I need now is teeth cleaning and some advice
for some cavities in development. But I wish I can build a
good relation with a dentist because I need one down the
road.
I have the directory from the plan, but to me it's hard to
know which dentist is good. I read a bit about posts here,
some of you are dentists and are actually from NYC. I wish
some of you can recommend a few good dentists in Manhattan
or Queens area who take Health First plan. Ideally they
offer their service disregarding what plan the patients
have.
For the future, what are good plans I should get for dental
care?
Thanks.

I know nothing about Health First, and only heard recently that there
are dental benefits. I have no idea who might be on the list, but if
you e-mail a list to me (remove mung in the addy) I can tell you if I
recognize any names.

Hi Steve. Sorry for being late. Just realize that the book
I have is for Kings County. I've asked for one for Queens.
I'll have it in 7 to 14 days. I'll send you a list when I
get it.

Health First America
Providing Basic Health Coverage for the Working Uninsured
Read the Press Release
Access to affordable health care is one of Americas most critical
issues. The cost of the uninsured is a burden shared by everyone. The
goal of Health First America is to provide working Americans access to
affordable basic health insurance - a necessary step in reversing the
rising cost of health care. This affordable and accessible insurance
benefit plan helps attract and retain quality employees.
The Problem of the Uninsured
In America, over 27 million full-time and 37 million part-time workers
are uninsured and growing. Over $34 billion dollars in care is
delivered to uninsured persons annually. These costs are damaging to
the providers forced to absorb this uncompensated care as
un-collectable debt. The expense is then transferred to insurance
carriers who in turn pass on the cost to employers in the form of
higher insurance premiums. In addition, many uninsured workers neglect
basic health-care services, which lead to more serious medical
ailments that could be avoided with proactive care. Basic health
coverage is crucial in preventing minor illnesses or accidents from
becoming more severe and leading to extended absenteeism.
A Meaningful First Step
Comprehensive major medical insurance is expensive and beyond the
means of most of the working uninsured. Health First America provides
a portfolio of affordable basic health insurance plans, including
prescription drugs, and valuable medical services discount programs.
Health First America is not comprehensive major medical insurance and
should not be considered a replacement for any existing major medical
coverage. It is, however, a valuable alternative for employers who do
not provide major medical insurance for all of their employees.

accommodate companies of different sizes, Health First America is
divided between individual, small and large group programs.
For contributory coverage, the employer must contribute at least 50%
of the employee only (single) rate for each eligible employee. For
voluntary coverage, employees pay the full premium through payroll
deduction.
All programs offered through Health First America may co-exist with
other coverage. In addition, dental and vision options may be
purchased as a stand-alone benefit or added to any plan.
Companies interested in Health First America are eligible for
different menu options depending on their size, location and the
amount the employer is able to contribute to the premium cost.
Affordability
The Health First America plan offers a solution to providing an
affordable benefit program. The program offers a variety of limited
medical plan designs, some for under $40 per month. Rates become even
more competitive when the employer contributes 50% or more of the
single premium.
Accessibility
Most employer health plans limit eligibility to full-time workers.
Health First America allows the inclusion of part-time, seasonal and
temporary workers. All health plans under Health First America are
guaranteed issue for all eligible employees - there are no medical
questions or physical exams. Health First America includes a discount

Any plan which restricts which offices you go to is bad.
