TD - 31 Dec 2004 16:05 GMT Joel has suggested I open a new thread on this subject (it was buried in What is the typical cost of NTI?. ) It has been a business idea suggested by Dr. Boyd to me, to open a service to NTI providers for the purpose of filing medical/dental claims for NTI usage utilizing Rose Nierman's Practice Management Software/NTIT Medical BillingWizardT Software For easy and accurate Narrative Reports and Claim Forms for the NTI Appliance.
I am looking for ideas and pro's and con's of such a service and if those of you who now provide NTI wouldn't mind weighing it I would greatly appreciate any comment you have.

Dr Steve - 05 Jan 2005 19:13 GMT Hi Tim,
I have had nothing but bad experience with Dental Treatment and medical insurance plans. I have never gotten a medical insurance company to respond to any claims or letters I have sent them. I suspect they have a policy of ignoring anything signed by a DDS. I have tried filling out the current forms with diagnosis and modifier codes. I have tried sending letters. I have tried sending both together. I have tried calling after mailing claims. I have tried giving the patient a letter to submit.
Personally, unless someone can tell me the medical plans are behaving differently, I would not waste more effort with them.

Tim Dixon - 05 Jan 2005 19:18 GMT Hi Steve,
Hope you had nice Holidays. Guess it's time to get back to the grindstone. Are you specifically referring to problems when billing for NTI use or just in general?

Dr Steve - 05 Jan 2005 23:25 GMT Hi Tim,
I mean in general, but concentrated on occlusal devices. Many years past with the conventional type of splint plus therapy, today with the NTI. Granted, I have given up and not tried to submit to medical insurance carriers in a few years now.
Holidays were great. Just returned from visiting Dad in Florida. He is looking great! He and my Step-Mom are getting along great! We ate a lot of Italian food. Had a New Year's Day Party at the home of relatives of a life-long friend of Dad's (who happen to live 15 minutes from Dad now). They are Jamaican, so we ate "Jamaican" that night. It was a great time. The only down point was that the trip was too short, and we did not get together with Vaughn and Margaret this time.
My warmest regards to you,
Steve

Tim Dixon - 05 Jan 2005 23:37 GMT Great to hear about your Holiday and I know they are always too short :-) and nice to hear everyone is getting along well.
Well in the past few years the NTI Module for the software in question has made billing to medical and dental a lot easier and a lot of providers are using it now. I was hoping some of the reg's around here might be using it and would weigh in with their opinions.
If you haven't looked into it, you might head over to nti's site and look at the link for billing, it has a lot of useful information that may assist you even without the product.
Of course my warmest regards to you too,

Dr Steve - 06 Jan 2005 20:42 GMT HI Tim,
I will look for the next NTI which gets denied by dental insurance and see about giving the 3-step guide from the web site a try. I'll let you know what come of it.
