Hello all,
Maybe you can help me with an importnat issue...
I hade a root canal and a temporray crown put in.
I had a terrible reaction to the temporary crown.
Soon he wants to put a permanent crwon.
What is the bext and the most hypoallergenic material
to your experience?
Gold? Titanium?
or should I just take the tooth off :)?
I', very sensitive to metals
(i can't even put most ear rings - not even gold).
anyone?
thank you!

What material was the temporary made of, and what sort of reaction did
you have?

Not even gold? There are some very high alloys of gold available to
make crowns out of. Your dentist's lab should be able to tell him
exactly what metals are in their alloys.
Porcelain is rather inert as well.... but it's not going to be nearly
as strong as gold.

You have to make a full porcelain crown thicker. Usually, removal of
all previous restoration and core gives enough bulk in the center. You
just reduce the cusp tips a bit more.

I have studied this issue a bit (but have not attended dental school) Both
Ti and gold are great, but few labs bother with Ti. Titanium takes very special
equipment to cast.
I always ask for "high noble".

That would be crazy.

Then why use them? How about an all-ceramic restoration? Dr. Steve can
make one chairside, and many labs also make them using various systems.

Are you certain this is not due to the trauma of the crown preparation
or impression? Is it getting better or worse with time?

Eh ? What is a crwon ?
For crowns the most hypoallergenic material
is 'all ceramic', ie. porcelain.
