Fluorosis-  why I am still here

I am trying to figure out why the ADA recommends such low fluoride
intakes per day, when it is so easy to go over that amount.  Also, I
have found through much research that kids ARE getting fluorosis even
when ingesting the guidelines set by the ADA.  This is not okay with
me.  There is a "contact us" section on the ADA website, but when you
click that you are a "consumer", it tells you they will not respond to
consumers.  Are there any dentists here willing to contact them about
this?

http://www.ada.org/public/topics/fluoride/facts/tables.asp#table2

See table 2.  These amounts are very low and it is exceedingly easy
for a child to go over.  I am only concerned with children (at this
point), particularly 1-3 years old.  Why are they recommending these
levels when fluorosis can develop at 1ppm (according to some).  How
much do THEY think is needed to induce fluorosis?  Anyone willing to
ask them?

Thanks for reading,
Keri

Try this webform and let us know what they tell you. It's an ADA
webform for questions about science and it has a place to click off if
you are a consumer.

Thanks, I did it.  Will let you know what they say, if they respond.
