Amalgam tattoo results from an amalgam particle that gets trapped under
the gumline. Over time the silver and heavy metals corrode creating the
dark appearance in the gums.

If the original particle can be removed that will prevent recurrance.
Normally these are left alone but if you really insist on removing it
then there are 2 options 1 cut the tattooed gums off and new gum will
grow. 2 remove the original amalgam particle and have a dermatologist
who has a special laser remove the tattoo.

I have never seen it done.  Seems to me it could be done surgically,
but would be messy.
Why would you need to remove it?  It's almost certainly in an area
where no one else is going to see it.

It *might* be done using the WaterLase. That is, IF the Amalgam
praticles in the tissue don't reflect the laser light (Damage, $$$$). If
they do, then I'd think the only thing would be Electrosurgery...
Ugh.... (!) ..... Come to think of it: Air Abrasion could do this....
Why not? You would sand blast the whole area and go down a fraction of
an mm, let it heal and re-evaluate. You'd need to touch up a bit, but I
think that would be the least invasive procedure.
Just a thought: DON'T take your air-brush to it!!!!
