This Beta project at Google has impact that many people may not have
considered (yet).  I'm thinking about it ... and I have much going

Now when people do not want their posts archived at Google, a message

Usenet history is mutating to a form of literary swiss cheese.

it was only a matter of time.  but someplace, somewhere, deep in the recess
of some old abandoned looking building is a usenet system. fully intact back
to day 1.  accepting everything that goes out NNTP, where X-No-Archive: yes,
means nothing. and someplace else, somewhere, deep in the recess of some
other abandoned looking building is a mirror of that archive.  fully intact
back to day 1.  accepting everything that goes out NNTP the first system
collects and sends to it. where X-No-Archive: yes, means nothing.

There has always been talk that usenet is this huge siphon that just sucks
everything in and keeps it forever as a record of humanity.  Who is the

You just have to wonder when they'll learn the process of Netcanting.
That's the only reason for anyone to keep a complete archive.
Interpretation, interpretation, interpretation.  Otherwise it's just a
bunch of nothing taking up a bunch of "space".

Netcanting is not over.

Replying at the top of the post ... yes.

Tales, tales, tales you tell?  You say, "Someplace, somewhere, deep in
the recess of some old abandoned looking" ... and I say, Uh oh... you
mean they're at my house???????????

well if *it* is in your house I would get rid of it quit, how many major

The F*I didn't care about what I told them ... so I guess I shouldn't
worry too much about the archives.  Since they didn't care, I asked them
not to forget my name, and I was assured they would not... so, ...

Does the wireless ever garble what's going on?

The wireless keyboard and mouse work very well, however, it is much nicer to
wander around the house and be with the family, watch some TV and surf the
net at the same time.  In the summer-time, posting to SMD from the
pool-side.  The wireless keyboard and mouse will work anywhere, but the
tablet is about the size of a legal pad of paper and is held the same way as
you write with the stylus.  Nifty.
StovePipe - 11 Dec 2004 17:17 GMT

.... So you could put it in a Saran Wrap and take notes chair-side and
shoot that into the patients' dossier in one fell swoop. I was trying to
do that with my Apple Newton. There actually was a dental app written
for the Newton, complete with odontogram for doing charting, ect, but I
never have found it anywhere.

Anyways, I see that as the future for your tablet.

Now, 'scuse me while I go shovel the city out from under the snow that
has recently fallen.

Hiya Stove,

We woke up to a snow covered world today.  Trying to get Salvatore to
get his homework done so he can go out and play in it.

In the operatory,,,,,,,,,,,,,, we buy the clear vinyl covers for the
keyboards.  We can spray any disinfectant over the keyboard without
worry of contamination.  We drop a paper towel over the mouse if we
need to use it during the procedure.  The PC is mounted on the wall
and out of harm's way.  The tablet is good for portability, but not so
good for working in a fixed location.  Plus, a tablet PC is 4X the
price of a desk-top unit.  The Tablet PC works great for going to
seminars.  You write your notes on it like you would a yellow legal
pad.  Any time the lecture gets boring, you switch to Agent and read
the NG messages you downloaded prior to leaving for the lecture.  Or,
switch to iReader and read a chapter out of an eBook you downloaded.

SHAME on you....BAD Dr.Steve

This works for you and that's OK. I'm at the stage were finding that
little routine for the Apple Newton would really help with things (I
think). Will informatize the clinic when I can.

How are you supposed to follow a thread?
How are you supposed to know who's talking to who?
