I noticed a small white round thing near the base of my tongue.  Have
to shine a flashlight in there to spot it.  From reading the posts
here and looking it up on the google, It's possible it might be an
ulcer.  However, I still want it seen by a specialist.

Should I go to my family doctor or my dentist?  My dentist I go to is
just
a general dentist.  Should I be looking at some other specialty
dentist?

Dentist ,,, and you can get your teeth cleaned under the same $ for
the appointment.

If its an M.D., or an alternative health care provider, a la Jan Drew,
then you can get one of those coffee enemas to remove the mercury from
the mercury fillings, as described in another post.

I agree with JME: the dentist will look at that, all of the other soft
tissue in your mouth and throat, give you a cleaning (if you call and
reserve time for that), and he will refer you to an oral surgeon to
remove and examine the lesion if needs be. It works so much faster than
with the MD's, IMO.

The general dentist is a specialist in 'oral pathology'

Go see your dentist first.
