How to repair an NTI-TSS?

I've read in earlier posts that people have successfully repaired the
groove they've worn into their NTI-TSS by filling it with "acrylic"
nail hardener. Someone mentioned a product that consists of a white
powder and an separate hardener/solvent.

Now I've looked in our chemists are there are lots of different types
of nail hardener. One even contains diamond powder (I think I'll avoid
that!). I've got one product that is a clear fluid that you paint on.
It contains nylon. The detailed ingredients are:

Ethyl Acetate
Butyl Acetate
Toluene
Nitrocellulose
Tosylamide/Formaldehyde resin
Dibutyl Phthalate
Camphor
Nylon-66
Serica

Do you think this is safe to use? Tough enough? Can you recommend
anything else?

I took my worn NTI to my dentist, and rather than filling the groove,
he polished it down. So now I'm worried he's reduce the depth too
much, as it means I can clench more than before :-(

I thought I would try and build up the depth again with the nail
hardener trick.

The height of the NTI should be as little as possible without allowing
you to contact your canines or any posterior teeth. The clenching is
reduced by the fact that only your front teeth can touch, rather than
the extra space between your teeth.

DYI NTI repair... not so sure if that's a great plan, but make sure
that you get the surface of it perfectly smooth...

Is the dentist who originally make the NTI the one
who you went back to ?

Remember this about DIY repairs, if you muck it up,
you may end up needing to have a new one constructed.
At full price I might add. At least in my practice.

And that matters why ?

Did you note:

Nice stuff to have in your mouth, not !
May work well for fingernails but...

YMMV

From the sounds of it, the product would be very similar to what we use.  It
is probably cheap enough for you to give it a try.  It might be too soft.
