Dictionary of smd Insults

An insult isn't an insult unless you've insulted the one you intended to
unsult!  So ...... we need to be sure there is no confusion about our
intentions to insult or not to insult.  Sometimes what sounds insulting
is actually anything but an insult!  (Right, boys and girls?)

If we are going to be insulted or insulting as part of our routine-fun
in smd ... it might also be fun to put together a "Dictionary of smd
Insults" so that we speak the same language ... sort of like the
rapper's dictionary, the surfer's dictionary ... we could have the "smd
dictionary of insults"

A long time ago, someone hurled this one at me: "You're a girl!"  Now, I
know it was supposed to be insulting but looking back, it was really
more of an announcement of shock than it was particularly an insult ...
*because*, I wasn't insulted!!  (I knew I was "a girl" all along... and
quite frankly, I thought it was really very, very funny!!)

Usenet can get mean and nasty.  And sometimes all of us can act childish
... but hopefully not *all the time* !!!

So, we could begin with:

"You're a girl!":  --- defined as .... ---

"hey, you heifer":

There might need to be one requirement:  Who coined the insult?

For example:

"Old man": A friendly birthday greeting from one man to another, both
relatively the same age but choosing to exaggerate the age of the one
minimally oder, or perhaps the same age.  Coined by Dr. Steve

Now ... we know that there have been others who have used the term "Old
man" ... but for the sake of example, I used this one because it's a
perfect example of an insult that is not intended to be insulting *and*
it was used in smd "discussion".

In the case of "hey, you heifer" ... we'll need to see who wrote that
little-known insult before we can define it and acknowledge properly its
author!

(I have some spare time today because it's a day of waiting for people
to come to the house -- carpenters, plumbers ... that sort of day... so
I needed a little distraction from the "mess" around me)

Hmmmmmmmm...... well, that would take some of the fun out of it,
wouldn't it????  Putting on your goggles to Google ... I think as long
as you wear your protective goggles while Googling, you can maintain
your score.  If you don't wear your goggles ... you will lose points.
Now this is based on an honor system, of course.

Goggles.... humm that reminds me of my favorite put down from the film
Enigma staring Kate Winslet as Hester.....

Mermagen: D'you know, without your glasses, you don't look half bad.
Hester Wallace: Do you know, without my glasses, nor do you?

..but it's not quite the same unless you say it the way Kate does. sigh.
