Dr. Steve - 04 Nov 2004 02:48 GMT Anyone want to join my new newsgroup club???? It is called the "I filter out Jan's ridiculous newsgroup trolling and spaming trashy posts" Club ???
If you have newsgroup problems,,,,,,,,,,,,,, FILTER OUT JAN DREW !!!!!! I did and I feel much better for it.
Please sign below my name if you would like to be a charter member of this club. 1) Steve Mancuso 2) Carabelli 3) Tony Bad 4) ????
We can discuss by-laws and vote on them and elect our officers and board of directors at the first formal meeting. Instead of dues, we have to bring in an un-triturated capsule of amalgam.
Perks will be discussed at the previous mentioned inaugural meeting. We could get discounts on filtering software. Free autographed pictures of Joel M. Eichen (my hero). I plan on having an interactive computer game written. It will be similar to playing darts. You get three shots each. Newsgroup networking so we can play against each other. The bull's-eye will have JD's picture on it. The twenty point spot will be Nadine, Keith Kilovolt, Parentof Teen, and some of the other thrilling cyber-personalities. The ten point spots will be various quack science links offered by our friends in the other spots. Various famous postings of theirs will fill in the radial point positions on the board. The darts will be in the shape of amalgam capsules, thermometers, syringes, endo files, ortho pliers, etc. Animated graphics for each point scored will simulate packing amalgam on the face of the personality you hit.
Plus, we will give out discounts for attendance at the next SMD Study Club Meeting to card carrying members of this group.
We need a few more members before we can incorporate as a non-profit entity, so come on folks,,,,,,, sign up !!!!
As a qualified and licensed dentist, I can assure you that Jan Drew's advice and links can be safely ignored. She is retired daycare center owner with a personal, ill-founded agenda. None of the qualified and licensed dentists who frequent this group endorse her advice and the websites she provides links to.

It is free. You have to download it, and set it to pull your NewsGroup downloads and then send them to your regular newsreader. You can set it to filter out any posts that are cross-posted to certain groups.
My favourite newsreader is Gravity, formerly from the now-defunct MicroPlanet, it is now open source and available free at http://www.microplanet.com/ It has the best filtering that I have seen on any newsreader.
If anyone knows of similar tools, especially for Windows users, please suggest them, with URLs, if possible.

Answer: Nein, I don't, but sometimes, not another option available. Hey! Lady!, go dump your load where it belongs: in my case, on the Quebec RAMQ, the local heath and welfare system admins, who don't permit us to use anything else from premolars back on kids and welfare cases. Look toots, I'm not gonna risk losing my licence, breaking the established rules, just to satisfy some obsessive .... quasi-human... who is not helping the situation in any way. If I could, I would NOT be placing Am's in kids' teeth, I'd be placing fun, colored compomers, w/o anesthesia. The parents, as well as MOST of the rest of the general population here, is too cheap or too poor to pay for anything else than gov't-insured Am. Go dump on the RAMQ.
THEN: pick up my isntruments and try to put a composite in a hole half under an inflammed gingiva that is pissing blood, in a patient who will spend 1500$ on a stereo system but not 125$ for a simple gum surgery to promote healing and simplify my procedure. Hell, s/he won't even invest 1.25$ for some dental floss... If'n Y'all are any where NEAR as good with your psychomotor skills as Y'all are with bullshitting MOUTH here, we'd be seeing miracles, and I could finally put the Am pluggers and carriers in the bottom drawer. Go ahead, lady, y'all just try to place anything else BUT an Am in these situations.
Kan't have it both ways, there, 'Missus'... YOU do what no one yet has been able to do: find an.... ALTERNATIVE... filling material that is as cheap, versatile, forgiving and as technique insensitive as Am is. Y'all like that word... alternative don't ya? Does it MEAN anything other than bullshit vague generalities to you? Can you clean up your own Usenet CRAP and replace it with something that any real person can USE? Maybe you can bring down the price of Au to the point where we can place that in peoples' teeth? Get off your a.s and DO something about all your hot air.
Don't gimme no bullshit about 'what should be'... and 'what the government should do' and bullshit 'conspiracies'..... Find me a SOLUTION that can replace the Am, and get off yer a.s and go shove it down the throats of the various welfare systems until they accept it, and I'll DO it, and I'll gladly shake you by the hand in thanks.
You never ask questions like THIS:
Does StovePipe want to be responsible for destroying the occlusal stability of a mouth by extracting teeth that could be saved by RCT or large subgingival Am's? Even in the young patient?
4.5 Not even for Jesus Christ would I do that, and therefore, so very much less for YOU.
Lady, come up out of the bullshit zone and get into the real world. Find me a solution, or Shut yer mug.
So sayeth the Pipe SP

Sorry you are so misinformed. I suggest you do some research.

Researchers Present Evidence of How Mercury Effects Brain Neurons University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine
http://www.holisticmed.com/dental/amalgam/child.html
Amalgam Can Cause Brain Damage in Children
Dental amalgams are the main source of mercury in an adult's brain. An average-sized amalgam filling contains 750,000 micrograms of mercury and releases around 10 micrograms a day. Researchers put radiolabelled mercury amalgams in the teeth of sheep and determined where escaped mercury went with a scanner. They showed that mercury atoms exhaled through the nose travel up filaments of the olfactory nerve to the hippocampus, which controls memory, and to other critical areas in the brain. In another study, rats given the same concentration of mercury that people inhale from their amalgams develop the pathologic markers of Alzheimer's disease. People with Alzheimer's disease have mercury levels in their brains that are 2 to 3 times higher than that seen in normal people.
>> Did you read the DEATHS from mercury vapors??? > > 4.5 Nicht: xaggerat-ed This heavy metal is highly poisonous. A Dartmouth professor studying the chemical characteristics of an organic form of mercury - dimethyl mercury - spilled two drops of it on her gloved hand. The first sign of mercury poisoning occurred four months later when her speech began to be slurred. This was followed by difficulty walking and loss of vision. She then fell into a coma and died. Another person, attempting to smelt the silver in dental amalgams he obtained (they are 35 percent silver, 50 percent mercury, and 15 percent tin, zinc, and other metals), heated them in a frying pan. The mercury vapor thus generated killed him quickly. The two other family members in the house at the time also died.

>extracting for no other >reason than to avoid Am filling material is just a bit insane, No need to exract unless it is a root canal. Composites can and should be used.
>There must sometimes be compromise. Just say no to mercury. It is being eliminated in all forms.
> Do YOU want to be responsible for this steady stream of gaseous mercury >> atoms???
> 4.5 No No nO... but;Sometimes no better solution There is a better solution. Don't use mercury.
Mercury is one proton (neutron and electron) heavier than gold - the atomic number of gold is 79; mercury, 80. It is distributed throughout the earth's crust. Unlike other metals, mercury, in its elemental state, is liquid (molten) at room temperature. And it releases a steady stream of gaseous mercury atoms that linger in the atmosphere for months (eventually falling back to earth and its oceans in an inorganic form in rain drops). Even when in a solid state, combined with other metals as an alloy, mercury atoms continually escape into the atmosphere. Once added to latex paint, put in teething powder, used in making hats, as a fungicide on seeds, as an antiseptic (Merthiolate), and as a treatment for syphilis (the cure was worse than the disease), human exposure to mercury today comes principally from three sources: dental amalgams, vaccines, and fish.
> Do You want to be responsible for Elemental mercury when released by a >dental >> amalgam is inhaled and (80 >> percent of it) absorbed by the lungs and retained in the body?????
>4..5 Believe 80 per hundred is xagerated You just made that up. Nothing about 80 per hundred.
Read it again.
> Do You want to be responsible for Elemental mercury when released by a >dental >> amalgam is inhaled and (80 >> percent of it) absorbed by the lungs and retained in the body????? The mercury vapor is absorbed through the lungs directly into the arterial blood at a rate of 80 percent.
http://www.idph.state.il.us/envhealth/factsheets/mercuryhlthprof.htm
How is elemental mercury absorbed and metabolized?
When inhaled, about 80 percent of elemental mercury is absorbed into the blood stream through the alveoli. Because it is fat soluble, mercury readily crosses the blood-brain barrier and placenta. When ingested, only a small amount (0.01%) is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, making toxicity from this route rare. Dermal absorption also is negligible.
http://www.health.gov/environment/amalgam1/appendixIII.htm
Fifty percent of the intraoral mercury vapor is the upper limit of the range used to estimate the amount inhaled (the rest is lost to exhalation). The lungs absorb about 80 percent of mercury vapor present in inhaled air (20,21). Most of this mercury vapor diffuses directly and rapidly across the alveolar membrane into the blood, and only a small fraction is deposited in pulmonary tissues.

Demonstrate your maturity by elaborating your view on the famous holistic question.

Steven Fawks - 09 Nov 2004 16:04 GMT If you could understand anything, you would read that Dr. Steve said,
"not just stand on your pulpit and preach your view and tell us everyone else will go to hell".
He said "not just stand". He did not say "quit standing" or "quit telling us". Therefore he did not say that you had been telling everyone to "go to hell".
This may insinuate that you had used those specific words, but it does not quote you as using those specific words.
As far as your messages, you have warned people of going to hell based on your judgments and beliefs. You do call everyone who disagrees with you a liar and the rest of your pronouncements are the same as telling someone to "go to hell", "get a life", "buzz off", etc.
So, you may not have used the actual phrase "go to hell", you have done everything else but.
Your statements are usually untrue, bigoted, and hypocritical. Many a life would have been better off if they had never heard the name Jan Drew.

Dr Steve - 09 Nov 2004 00:48 GMT This was a posting from years ago. Poor Jan had nothing more interesting to do with her time, so she googled backwards until she found what she thought could be interpreted as something negative coming out of my keyboard,,,,, despite the fact that I admitted to being harsh in the past and promised to be only polite in all future discussions with her.
Since she brought it up, I thought it was worth a re-post. After all, I think I remember Jan re-posting a cut-and-paste message once before. If it offends her, I will apologize. However, hopefully, she is mature enough to realize it was just a gag, a joke, a tease, a light punch on the shoulder.

She does not understand that no one (including me) is going to read the same cut-and-paste lies that pretend to address issues which she refuses to discuss.
