I am facing either root canal plus a crown or extraction on tooth
number 19.
I have a total fear of both. How bad is it to be left without a tooth
forever (age 39) compared to the agony of root canal? It was explained
it would take about five visits for the r/c. I have no time, no
patience, no cash and no guts.
Pro's and con's for both?
Thank you,
Thomas

Whoa!!!!
Root canal treatment is one appointment. Come back to the average dental
office two more times to get the crown put on. Come in to my office and get
the root canal treatment and the crown in 2 1/2 hours (one day).

I've had a root done and 5 extractions all reasonably painless. Most painful
part is having the injections.

Agony? I have had at least three root canals and the biggest pain was in
the vicinity of the wallet. Relax, take a deep breath, and visit your banker.

Hi Vaughn,
Generally true but not always true!
If there exists bacteria beyond the apex, the tooth can be sore or
even occasionally very painful for a while .....

We forgive you for all except #3.

A RCT on #19 would take about an hour in my office.
There would be no pain.
