Peridex was prescribed after prepping molar for crown, I assume for
the gums to heal around the tooth. There was some blood and
inflammation which I assume is typical for a crown prep.
First molar with fairly large filling cracked (whole lingual wall);
needs a crown. Tooth has a temp. gold crown for coupla weeks until
permanent crown is prepared. Gum was bleeding a little and swollen
during first day but now better.
Pockets were a little deep around that tooth due to a poorly done
filling in the past (too much space left) but other teeth are mostly
fine.
There is no gingivitis or other gum problem.
No staining occurred so far during first day.
Is Listerine considered equally effective for bacterial control.
Is something else better or equally effective without the possible
staining?
>>Any reason to use Peridex or is it ok to use Listerine?

Staining happens over a period of time.
The stain is surface stain and is easily removed by polishing
the teeth.

Scope works as well as Listerine and tastes better.
Peridex is more effective than any OTC mouthwash
at killing bacteria.
