Wisdom Extraction

Three of my wisdom teeth need to be extracted. two upper ones and the
right lower one. The upper ones have errupted fully but they have
cavities and the lower one is impacted horizontally and partially
errupted. I hope the extraction of upper ones would be simpler, but my
lower tooth has to be cut into pieces.I prefer to be awake at the time
of extraction.

Will it be okay if opt only for local anaesthetic. my surgeon suggests
that most people prefer to be put to sleep. But my problem is that I
have a heart murmur and need to take 2g of amoxicillin one hour prior
to surgery. In the instruction sheet given to me it clearly states
that I should not drink or eat anything after midnight if I am going
for IV sedation. It could be dangerous and I do not want to take risk.
Has anybody had experience of Impacted Wisdom teeth removal on loacal
anaeshesia only.  How much time it takes to pull out one teeth ? and
how is it done. because i am premedicating with antibiotics how many
hours I should wait to start the course of antibiotics prescribed
after extraction ?

thanks

Take the pills with a small sip of water 1 hr prior to your scheduled
surgery. Very Very small risk.

Start the antibiotic prescription around 8hrs after your premed dose.

Plus I like to be awake to make SURE ....... I am awakened.

Besides, there is a limit as to how hard and how rough I like my jaw
to be manipulated.

Me either. Or an inattentive doc!

If not impacted, it will be okay. If impacted, please ask your doc to
post the x-ray for a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and eighth opinion.

Well, that's not how we do it! Follow the doc's recommendations ....
