Are you saying there are instances of racism way up north here? ;-)
Seriously, I don't know what goes on in sentencing guidelines these
days. He was not a first-time offender, so I wouldn't hazard a guess
one way or another. Many have also asked if Martha Stewart would have
served jail time if she weren't a celebrity defendant.

I'd just say that the justice system is often a little out of kilter.
For some things there really is no justice at all. One guy makes an
illegal U-turn (that results in tragic injuries) and gets seven years.
One guy kills two people and walks away with an acquittal.
In "My Business" (Oct./Nov. 2004) there's even a story of two guys
serving *EIGHT YEARS* (in US prison) for unintentionally importing
lobster tails from Honduras that did not match the exact length and
packing stipulations of Honduras (not the US).
