Just in my final year of dental school, got married last year. It's
been fine until now but we'll be divorcing soon. It's such a shock to
me... I wonder if anyone's ever been involved in such a tragic
situation. Fortunately my Dean is understanding. But it's hard to face
my friends and colleagues (after all we went to so many social
functions and dinners with my friends)... I'm a little better now but
I can't help but sigh everytime I think of her... I just want to
graduate next May. I pray everyday I survive each single day. It's so
tough. Just wanted to vent and see if anyone had anything to share
with me.
Cheers

Get involved with your work, seek out research oriented-dentists and
faculty, use your time off for good behaviour to good advantage .....
The best revenge is living well ......
(not really, but just a thought!)
PS- You know how to make beer can chicken?
Its a huge hit with the ladies.

I had a different problem in dental school. There was an instructor
who was ferocious. He was TOUGH, tough, tough.
One evening I was at the Academy of Music for a Philadelphia Orchestra
concert. At intermission my date and I bumped into THAT FEARED
INSTRUCTOR. Turns out the lovely lady knew him! She was the daughter
of his best friend, the guy who came with him from their native
Germany to Philadelphia.
OK.
Fast forward ....... the next year. I was a married dental student. I
did not marry "JOYCE," but I MARRIED another woman.
The instructor, every time he looked over my work (and gave my my most
undeserved A) would say, "Oh, so how is JOYCE!"
So I started to lie ...... had to. I was too scared.
My friends still wonder to this day how I got those "A"s and they
never failed to question me as to "WHO IS THIS JOYCE PERSON" and how
does she help you get "A"s?
I was nervous until the end, but fortunately it worked out fine. Its
all history. It was 1964.
Joel
PS- I changed the name to protect the innocent. Her real name?
"Joyce!"

Several buddies did that. One is now a podiatrist and the other left
for medical school.

Tough break.... My sympathies. Hang in there, man. FWIW, there were a
few break-ups when I was going through as well. Even some long-standing
relations with children. Take it a day at a time and pour all your
strengths into that. Lean on your friends a bit if you can. At least,
you didn't have kids into the mix. My guess is that your partner just
decided that there wouldn't be enough room for a real relationship and
your carreer. Above all, don't get down on yourself. Don't make any
other important decisions until you're squarely back on your feet.
Cheers

You are a whiny little wuss. No wonder you're getting divorced.

Just have to speak to the OP here. Man, do you remember what it was like
when you first started out in DS? I mean after the initial partying and
merryment died down, and you actually had to sit down and WORK, and
STUDY, and SCULPT, and DISSECT and working on the articulator had to
procuce something that was ACCEPTABLE? And you had EXAMS that had to be
PASSED????????? Like you still do to some extent?
Well, anyone who got through that, to the place where you are now, would
not DREAM of uttering such an a.shole comment as what appears above.
This tells me that this guy (I'm sure it's a guy) is a welfare line
reject and not worth ONE SECOND of your time or thought. Like I said
b/4... hang in there, and finish the year, doing it one day at a time.
That's all you need to get there. If you come across any more a.sholes
like this one, do yourself a huge favor: DON'T RESPOND. Don't even THINK
about answering the twit. Be selfish. Save your energies for people and
things worthy of it.
If this guy had started DS with you, he wouldn't have lasted ONE MONTH.
Hang in there! :-)

Good advice.
I might add that it's better to split now than after three kids and 25
years of grief at the hand of a poor spousal choice (which this would
probably have turned into).
