After reading through many of the posts on SMD it's obvious that
dental insurance companies that serve patients strike a bad chord. Is
there a list of good and bad companies from the dentist's
perespective, or do they view all insurance companies as impossible?

Dental insurance companies do NOT serve the patients.  They serve their
stockholders.  Their only goal it to make profits.
