How long does it generally take for teens to progress to
periodontis even after routine dental visits? If it's difficult to say how
long "generally", then what
is the longest amount of time you've ever seen it take? The shortest?
I ask this question because of a concern I have -- that is, is the
average person who visits the dentist every six months likely to catch
the gingivitis before it becomes periodontitis? Or would it be possible
to someone to develop periodontitis in a span of six months?
This happened to my teenage son. It is not even 6 mos after his cleaning done
in dental office. No signs of any gingvitis or anything such told us during
that visit. But now the hygenist says that he has pockets of 11/2 " and bone
loss and needs deep cleaning (code D4342) ?
Will that happen to anybody during this short span of 6 mos, or is that just
money making strategy?
I have decide whetrher to go with the treatment or not soon. Really
appreciate any genuine responeses ASAP.
Thanks,
IK
