Last week's syndicated column talked about treatment for TMJ.
I wrote her a letter saying it was a good article on a difficult
subject. I disagreed that occlusion was not involved. I told her to
get a second opinion from aes-tmj.org. I told her I can give people
tmj problems by making a crown too big. I also told her that tmj
problems were an early sign of fibromyalgia. I noted that it is
mostly women who get fibromyalgia just as 90% of tmj patients are women
(that is what she claimed in the article). I would not agree that up
to 90% of women get tmj problems. Resting the jaw is important.
