I had tooth #2 extracted 4 weeks ago and had the follow up a week
later. It was a little lumpy looking but now it looks fine except for
one thing, the hole is redder than the rest of the gum which is normal
color. I had another extraction 2 weeks later and that oral surgeon
will be removing my stitches tomorrow and will take another look at
tooth 2, even though he didn't extract it. I have no pain where 2 was
and was on antibiotics for 2 weeks (3 including problem from prior
tooth) so don't think it's infected. Is it common for the hole to be a
little red after 4 weeks? I am so scared of further intervention; I
have been through so much physically and emotionally and petrified
that they'd have to open this up again for some reason.

Pretty normal at this juncture.  You should be fine.
