Dry socket

I had an upper pre-molar extracted 6 days ago and despite great care, the
blood clot had disappeared by the 2nd day, with the bone visible at the
bottom of the socket.

I understand there's not a great deal can be done about this issue but to
treat with analgesic poltices or oil of cloves.

Will the pain I'm getting from the osteitis continue until the gum has grown
over the bone, if that's what the gum does ?

Or will the inflammation subside without the gum growing over to cover the
bone ?

How long can I expect to continue enjoying my osteitis ?

I'm a healthy, non-smoking guy in his mid-40's.

TIA

Pain often lasts 1-2 weeks.

Thanks.
Sounds about right - it's about half as painful as it was a week ago.

If the bone remains exposed, will it be susceptible to other issues ?
Looks like the gum's kinda collapsed onto the socket, leaving a small hole
with bone visible.

Severe pain within a few days after a tooth extraction
Partial or total loss of the blood clot at the tooth extraction site, which
you may notice as an empty-looking (dry) socket
Visible bone in the socket
Pain that radiates from the socket to your ear or eye on the same side of
your face
Bad breath or a foul odor coming from your mouth
Unpleasant taste in your mouth
Swollen lymph nodes around your jaw or neck

Have it looked at and perhaps packed by the dentist.  It is totally wrong
for me to offer you advice without seeing the socket in person.
