I certainly don't speak for everyone here, but a simple:
"Hey, I got my website up and running. Take a look and
tell me what you think.", would probably not draw a great
deal of criticism.
If you keep hawking yourself and try to market a book or
something, you might want to put your cyber armor on.
'Course if all you ever post is that same message every
month as a marketing ploy (won't be worth the effort on
smd anyway!) all bets are off.

I find in most newsgroups, even spam is tolerated better from those who
contribute (and I mean OTHER than spam) than the hit-and-runs.

Thanks for the reply! Don't worry, I don't intend to market anything. I
designed a web site for a dental practice, and I was hoping to get
feedback from people in-the-know besides other web designers. I've been
getting a lot of highly technical feedback so far, but it doesn't really
address the fact that this is a web site for a dentist's office.
I'm not a dental professional myself, so I don't have a whole lot to
contribute to the conversation here myself -- however, I can certainly
return the favor of a site critique!
The site is: http://emmertdentalassociates.com/

photos on the "Our 3 Locations" page.]
Thanks!
