DUE TO A SHORTAGE OF DENTISTS
CA-DDS tired of BS - 27 Oct 2008 02:57 GMT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.ada.org/prof/resources/pu...articleid=2524

I went to school in a foreign country but have had a CA license for 10 years

Not that I would have any desire to move to Maine from Beverly Hills( not
even in my worst nightmare) , but if I wanted to , I couldn't get a DDS
license,in spite of  my clinical experience and my CA  DDS license.

This shows what a bunch of idiots the guys  running dental board of Maine
are and how much they "care" about Maine citizens.

They would have MD's performing basic dental procedures, but dentists
licensed in CA for years would not be allowed to do that!

State dental boards continue to receive pressure from their legislatures to
approve international dental schools that are not CODA-accredited, many
times to address access to care issues.

Last month, the Maine Dental Association and the state's Board of Dental
Examiners temporarily defeated a bill that would have expanded the
requirements for receiving a license to practice dentistry to allow
graduation from a foreign university considered satisfactory to the dental
board. "An Act to Increase Access to Oral Health Care" would also have
removed the requirement that applicants for licensure by endorsement that
are licensed to practice in another state meet Maine's professional
education requirements.

The bill was referred to a joint committee on business, research and
economic development for further study to be completed in early 2008.

Dental boards in California, Minnesota and Florida have received similar
directives.

DOES DENTAL BOARD OF MAINE CARE ABOUT CONSUMERS?

NO , OF COURSE NOT, they atre just afraid of competition , just like NY,
greedy , imoral and

disgusting

Now you're insulting people from Maine.  That sure won't help change the
mind of some senator from Maine.

I do not mean to insult people from MAINE, but the whole situation is crazy.

Sometimes you have to use strong language , so people would finally wake up!

I just did not want the dental board of Maine imagine that I beg for a DDS
license in that state, since I do not need it.

I just want them to bring more dentists in , so people would have access to
dental care

Some  senators are OK with foreign dentists licensed in other states (like
my case) getting licensure by credentials in Maine , but dental board of
Maine opposes the change, out of "concern" for consumers.

Same thing is Alaska and other states. The "concern" for consumers (read
protectionism and fear of competition )  is huge

Funny thing: such an MD could be a foreign medical school graduate licensed
in US and perform dental procedures in Maine, but an experienced  foreign
trained dentist LICENSED IN CA as DDS cannot practice dentistry in Maine.

Maine dental board, how low can you go?

How stupid can you be, guys?

A whole world is laughing at your incompetence and immorality,

Foreign MD licensed in US can practice dentistry in Maine, foreign dentist
licensed in CA  cannot. Morons running dental board of Maine, wake up!

It  doesn't make any sense.
