... that I discussed in the pain relief thread.
It's now eight hours post extraction and I was still biting gauze pretty
firmly because (a.) my dentist didn't tell me how long to keep biting and
(b.) it was still coming out kind of bloody.
I was concerned about this so I called my dentist and he said some continued
blood seepage would still be normal. And we are probably talking about
seepage here, the saliva mixed with blood probably makes it worse than it
is. I still had the gauze on it, however, because as I noted, he didn't
indicate "how long" and I neglected to ask the question
However, in checking around at some archived posts here, it appears I should
have already removed the gauze long ago. I have done that now. I can taste a
little bit of blood in my mouth, not much.
Could I have done anything to impede the clot formation by keeping the gauze
on too long to where I need to maybe check back with my dentist, or does it
sound like things are OK? Is there anything else you guys would recommend
here?

So far so good.

Yeah, leave the extraction site alone.
Let nature take its course.

That's what I'm doing now. Just not eating any really hot foods (don't drink
coffee, so there's no problem with really hot liquids), chewing on the other
side when I eat (I don't have any pain, not even at the extraction site, so
I'm not really limiting what I eat) and not spitting or swishing anything in
my mouth (I can't wait to get that over with, because I brushed my teeth
last night then kind of let the stuff dribble out of my mouth as per my
dentist's instructions, and kind of wiped my mouth out, and toothpaste
residue tastes yucky).
Thanks for the advice on everything, guys.
