Would it be advisable for a Tmd patient diagnosed with major
depression, to take an SSRI drug that has been known to cause
clenching? I have prescribed Celexa and I do not want to aggravate my
condition, or sabotage what Dr. Boyd is doing. The doctor who
prescribed the drug knows about my jaw problems and doesnt seem to be
worried, but what does a psychiatrist know about Tmd. thanks

Might (and I emphasize MIGHT!) want to try ditching the drugs
and going with some shrink time/counseling/etc.

I've heard it's not a great idea to go cold turkey, but once
you start that stuff, it seems to go on an on (and then you
have the drug side effects to deal with as well as the
depression).

sorry for posting this in two different threads, i thought I had
deleted one.

Yeah, the whole drug deal seems like a slippery slope that ive been
opposed to, but
as things have become pretty ingrained and stalled Ive had to rethink
the whole deal. I just find it
a weird paradox, that there seems to be this link between depression,
stress,tmd problems, and that the standard
treament for depression and stress as far as drugs go, often causes
clenching and jaw issues. I've only taken three pills
so far, so i dont think id get any withdrawal.

About 2 weeks ago Jim equilibrated a tooth opposite a crown, that had
an high spot id
probably been clenching on for about a year. Since then the pain that
ive had on that side has
changed alot, but there is still pain remaining, and in the last
couple weeks ive started waking up with
the morning neck headache on a daily basis. How long should it take
for pain caused by an interference to subside after being taken out?
