periodontal disease. Young animals don't get periodontal disease.
The progression of periodontal disease in animals is determined by
their life expectancy.
I don't know when dental researchers are going to understand this.

the third article talks about smoking as a risk factor. Why are

Not exactly on the mark with the thread, but almost all
of my perio cases are indeed smokers.
It's more than a mere 'risk factor'.
