Insurance Company Rules (ICR) so I *know* this is off topic!! (Thanks
to Steve B) ;-)
Anyway, if you don't know what a Desert Spoon is, this will likely not
mean much to you. In my front yard, I have a mature Desert Spoon in
full bloom. The bloom is on a stalk that grows about 12-15 feet
straight up from the center of the plant. Once the hundreds upon
hundreds of blooms are opened, this stalk looks like a giant green
ostrich feather duster, sort of. ...
This year is a big year for Desert Spoons... not every year is. (Similar
to an agave plant but most of those plants get to bloom once only and
then die suddenly.)
Under our Desert Spoon, lies irrigation pipe. I don't know why it is
there, but it is. The pipe developed a fracture and a leak which isn't
acceptable, of course.
So... until you've (I didn't do it) had to crawl under this saw-toothed
(ICR- on topic) plant and pulled a few of its *teeth* out of the plant
by your skin .... let's just say, you haven't spent a summer's day in
the desert.
If you Google images of Desert Spoon, you'll see them. (And you can also
learn that "locals" put this plant to use as a spoon. (ICR on topic sort
of)
ICR!!!!!! Gotta love it. Silly
