Had colonoscopy today. Pre op check showed pulse rate 42  BP 130/60 (age 57).
Did feel a bit spaced out. My GP has never been concerned with my BP before.
Only have high blood pressure when in migraine attack (vestibular) or
excessive physical (like mowing lawns). Live on complete salt free diet which
had reduced vestibular problems/migraines. On medication propranolol for
migraine and Clonazepam for vestiblular and pre migraine aura (seizure like
symptons).  Have lost 7 kgs in 8 mths.  Still need to lose 5-7 kgs. Sugar 6.1.
Walk 30 - 60 mins 3-4 times a week.Walking speed/fitness has increased over
time and heart rate takes  longer to increase. I need  a siesta most days. Is
this because of low pulse or perhaps effects of medication? Should I be
concerned? My brother has cardiomyopathy (I think that's what its called),
hardening of the heart wall, mother has arterialsclerosis. Would like your
opinion.

I would be concerned at the low pulse rate. It may be due to the
propranolol. Reducing that drug will increase heart rate, reduce blood
sugar, and help you lose weight. Don't reduce the drug without consulting a
physician who knows your circumstances.

Thanks for your advice Jim. Unfortunately can't reduce propranolol or
migraines will reoccur. I didn't know they increased blood sugar.  I've
reduced my sugar intake dramatically  and was wondering why it still remained
high.
Seeing my neurologist tomorrow who wants me to reduce my drugs gradually.
It's really scary just thinking about it. Been on them for 2 /3  years and
they've given me quality of life. However emotional problems have decreased
so perhaps now is the time to start.
