calculate your weight

Ben - 11 Jan 2008 22:48 GMT Hi there
I have a not so important question, but I am just curious about it. How should you calculate your weight based on your height? I know it is based on your gender, frame, and height. Now my question is about my height. I was 5.9 feet tall, but now due to my age (71) I am not quit 5.8. And in another few years, I might be 5.7 should I calculate for what I was or what I am. I have a feeling that it is your original height, because my arms and legs did not shrink, it is only my back. I weigh right now 155 lbs, so I am right on. I was just been told by the doctor, that I am in the beginning stages of diabetes. I took it to heart and been very strict with my diet and lost about 12 lbs. in 4 months
I am just curious what your answer would be and others might be interested too, who are trying to lose weight

> Hi there > [quoted text clipped - 13 lines] > > Ben Ben - 12 Jan 2008 04:05 GMT That was not my question. When you go to the doctor, he/she let you step on the scale and want to see if you are the proper weight. So where do they base on your weight. Gender, frame and height. The question is, by what height would they use, your original or your present height Ben

However, in our collective clinical experience, it is the visceral adipose tissue (VAT) that matters more than either body weight or BMI in increasing risk for cardiovascular disease especially in the setting of hypertension and type-2 diabetes.

Bottom line:
You remain pathologically untruthful.

May dear neighbors, friends, and brethren have a blessedly wonderful 2008th year since the birth of our LORD Jesus Christ as the Son of Man ...

Hunger is wonderful :-)
It's how we know what GOD wants, which is what is good.
Yes, hunger is our knowledge of good versus evil that Adam and Eve paid for with their and our immortal lives.
Those who suffer from the powerful delusion predicted by the prophecy of 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11 would deny this and perish however:

Ben - 12 Jan 2008 14:53 GMT That was not my question. I do control my weight by small portions. But all what I want know is what is the proper weight. When you go to the doctor, he/she will weigh you. Now what do they base on your proper weight on. The height you were or what you are now, for over the years you shrink about 3 inches Ben

The BMI, properly done, can be helpful too and may be of a lot of value but would not be helpful for frequent monitoring of your weight.
You are correct to control your weight by small portions which is the best way of doing it.

This has no effect on abdominal fat. I would use my young adult height to determine BMI.
BMI is a very poor measure of susceptibility to diabetes, though. You would do much better to measure your ratio of waist circumference to hip circumference. That ratio correlates quite strongly with risk of diabetes and heart disease. -- Jim Chinnis Warrenton, Virginia, USA
