Although not Jefferson who is quoted in another thread, but apropos to parrots, President Andrew Jackson had a parrot named Poll who could curse in both English and Spanish. Poll had to be removed from Jackson's funeral in 1845 when the parrot wouldn't stop cursing. So parrots just parrot which requires no thinking and no sense. What Chung says is a "curse" when compared to modern medicine today.
