Hello,
My 2 year old son was just diagnosed with a cleft mitral valve. The
cardiologist has him on Vasotec and in 6 months time we have to decide
about surgery. He has no symptoms, other than he is thin and small-ish
for his age. We only caught the murmur at a regular check-up a few
months ago.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I have heard that the
surgery is extremely successful, but I am still scared and heart
broken to think of my 2 yr old in the hospital having open heart
surgery. But, I suppose surgery would ultimately be preferrable to
taking medication for the rest of his life.
Thanks,
Vanessa
