That would have been both sad and a waste of airtime, but the debate on the show was interesting. I thought Taubes held his own against Dr Oz in that Taubes was very well versed on the lack of evidence backing up theories of dietary fat as causes of heart disease, obesity, etc, and Oz seemingly was not able to answer Taubes' assertions with much more than parroting the current dogma. Also interesting was Dr Weil's endorsement of Taubes' book. I'm about 1/3 of the way through the book and, though I remain skeptical of much of what I've read, it's been eye-opening for me as a layperson. I'd be interested in reading some well-informed counterpoints to his book. |
