Michael O'Riordan. Aerobic activity modestly increases HDL-cholesterol
levels. theheart.org. [HeartWire > Prevention]; May 29, 2007. Accessed
at http://www.theheart.org/article/793601.do on May 30, 2007.

"In univariate analysis, the investigators found that only exercise
duration, and not frequency or intensity, was associated with
increases in HDL-cholesterol levels. When subjects exercised between
23 and 74 minutes per session, each 10-minute increase in duration was
associated with a 1.4-mg/dL increase in HDL cholesterol.

Like most meta-analyses, the study has limitations, the authors
acknowledge. This analysis is confined to published studies, and most
trials did not provide data on the period from the last exercise
session to the measurement, so the increase in HDL cholesterol
observed might be an acute effect. Most of the studies also failed to
include data on alcohol intake, which could affect HDL-cholesterol
levels, they add."

"Wise to raise HDL by losing the visceral adipose tissue (VAT):"

Better still to exercise for both hdl and vat.  Exercise has been shown
in several studies to selectively reduce vat first.  This was the case
when comparing calorie reduction diets and exercise, the latter had the
most effect when they were done alone and best results when in
combination.

Exercise makes metabolic changes at the cell level to reverse vat and
mets.

The trash science two pound diet can do neither, unless by accident of
food choices two pounds happens to be less then the metabolic and
physical activity calorie demands for ones height.

One can in fact increase vat by eating two pounds of the wrong foods
depending on the above factors.

God bless.

And probably better still to eat for ones metabolic type. For most
with MeTS  that means less sugars and carbs more High quality fats .
The low glycemic diet. That combined with excercise will strike  a
powerful blow against insulin resistance, and Vat and also increase HDL
levels . Thanks and God bless ,Vince

It remains wiser to eat less down to the right amount to lose all the

Translation: 2PD-OMER Approach is USELESS without a WELL BALANCED DIET!!!

"It remains wiser to eat less down to the right amount to lose all the
VAT:"

Sure weight loss using a calorie restriction diet is fine.  However
several studies have shown that exercise alone selectivly reduces vat
first as compared to calorie restriction alone.  Combining the two has
best results.

That is why the two pound diet is trash science, it unlike the exercise
results has no research in support of its non-scientific claims.

God bless.
