Three articles in today's New York Times may be of interest:

"Heart Scans:  Finding More Than You May Need to Know"  -- tells the
story of George Skouras, a 52 year old man who decided to go for a
complete physical exam.  He had a heart scan and found out that he had
plaque buildup in his coronary arteries. The article discusses the
question of whether this information benefits him, given that he
already knew that his cholesterol was high.  Various experts are
quoted.  In the case of Mr. Skouras, the test results motivate him to
lose 16 lbs through diet and exercise, reducing his LDL by 30%.  He is
reluctant to take a statin, because whether doing so will benefit him
in the long run is unknown.

The bottomline for all three article is that it remains wise to lose

"The bottomline for all three article is that it remains wise to lose

All three described the value of weight loss and good diet and exercise.
Nothing like stating the obvious, except the two pound diet is an
inferior hit and miss calorie restriction scheme which ignores good diet
and exercise.

Truth is simple, the two pound diet is trash science and it does not
cure diabetes.

God bless.
