well, they did a urinalysis today and it came back positive for blood
and leukocytes. however, i had a very heavy, horrible period that
started at the end of lastweek and throgh the weekend, though its
pretty much tapered off already. the only thing i was getting was some
minor tracing of brownish clotty stuff yesterday and today. stale-ish
stuff. that would still show positive? now, say, you had the last
moderate flow 3 days ago, could some of those blood traces still be
picked up? even if say you even ended it 2 days ago?

it just said "LARGE" for the result in blood.

so they sent the specimen to the lab. now would this be able to detect
the difference between the bleeding happening from something other
than my period? and what else would this bloodwork panel show?

Yes.

Yes.

No.

When urine is sent to the lab it would be for a repeat dipstick, for
microscopic exam, sediment analysis,  and/or for culturing for
bacteria.

May GOD bless you.

i also have thick discharge that i get all the time and have had since
before i even started having periods.
could that be what the leukocytes are?

plus i hadnt washed up as well as i normally would have (post-period)
before the appointment. i knew they were going to do a urinalysis and
didnt want to use any scrubs or cleansers, for it might tamper with
the results somehow. any little bit still coming out, could have left
little traces behind. but even a couple days old??

they say that wouldnt be from  a yeast infection either.. but.. its
still an infection..
im lost.

but will the lab be able to see if theres something serious going on
with my kidneys from the lab tests?

they'll probably want me to have a repeat urinalysis next week, i
assume. id think itd be wise anyway.

The urinalysis checks for an enzyme from leukocytes and not for intact
cells themselves.

A vaginal yeast infection typically does not affect a urine sample if
the sample were a "clean catch" sample where urine is collected
midstream.

Yes, from the sediment analysis.

It is likely if they believe your urine was abnormal because of
contamination from vaginal fluids.

May GOD bless you.

ok, so my doctors office, well the medical assistant, called me this
morning and said my urine lab test came back normal.
i asked her if i should still bring in a new urine sample to double
check about the blood and she said no. (well, i still am, anyway.)

um, she didnt even give me any other details. i guess this test only
tests for infections and bacteria?
according to her no blood or leukocytes were found in this? it makes
no sense. the urinalysis showed the blood for sure... and as for
leuko's, i've had those on every urinalysis i've had done the last two
years.

It was likely simply a urine culture that did not grow out anything.

May GOD bless you.
