May you choose to repent and turn to GOD to receive the powerful blessings HE will launch to possibly remove satan's mark from your forehead, otherwise they might smite the back of your head and unmake you. Amen

Did it ever save someone you loved from death, or did it just make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, knowing that the death of a wife, husband or child was really a good thing?

Working Class Dog - 19 Apr 2006 15:28 GMT >Working Class Dog says: > >>Nothing fails like prayer > >Have you ever tried praying WCD? I used to pray for all sorts of reasons, and by coincidence, some of the prayers seemed to come true. Gradually though, when I noticed that the law of averages had the same success as my prayer, I began to question its efficacy.
I wondered why god would provide the bike I prayed for, but never seemed to be able to handle the much more worthy requests, like world peace. I wondered why revered faith healers like Benny Hinn and Oral Roberts could have god cure cancer seemingly quite easily, but never ever even attempted to have him regenerate a lost arm or leg, which should be equally easy for someone defined as god.
It finally dawned on me that the promise made in Matthew 21:21, "And all things, whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.", was simply bullshit.
>It's worked so many times for me. And if you have any shred of honesty, you'll admit it's failed miserably for you too.
>Have you ever felt God's love - I have, in my deepest, darkest moments, >He came and I felt His all encompassing love, and that's something I'll >never forget. No, but I see and read daily of your god's complete and utter ignorance to the ruthlessness and suffering he allows, in famine, pestilence, ethnic cleansing, etc., all, according to apologists, because of man's "free will."

Just as a loving parent would grant his/her child's reasonable requests so our heavenly father grants our reasonable requests.

Using your analogy, lets say I pray the idiot next door who plays his rap music too loud, drops dead tomorrow. The next day, he in fact falls over dead. Not a coincidence, but the lord answering my prayer? How can you type this pap with a straight face?
>"The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision comes from the >LORD." (Proverbs 16:33) He must be especially proud of this decision: "When paramedics found six-year-old Jeffrey’s thin, sore covered body, he was already dying of septic shock and bacterial pneumonia as a result of being left to sleep in a bedroom covered in his feces and urine. Jeffrey died two months before his sixth birthday and weighed less than 10 kilograms — he had weighed more at twelve months old."
This little boy was tortured for his entire brief life, and starved to death by his own grandparents. Locked in a room all day, and forced to drink out of the toilet bowl. According to YOU, that was god's decision. Why would anyone worship such a sick concept?
>> Gradually though, when I noticed that the law of >> averages had the same success as my prayer, I began to question its efficacy. > >What you describe is the gradual waning of your faith in GOD. You have an acute grasp of the obvious.
>> I wondered why god would provide the bike I prayed for, but never seemed to be >> able to handle the much more worthy requests, like world peace. > >Once faith in GOD is lost, a person starts to doubt GOD's omnipotence >and HIS other qualities. Again, spot on.
>> I wondered >> why revered faith healers like Benny Hinn and Oral Roberts could have god cure [quoted text clipped - 4 lines] >Just as a loving parent would grant his/her child's reasonable requests >so our heavenly father grants our reasonable requests. Wouldn't millions of people praying for the aforementioned world peace, including god's right hand man in the Vatican, be a "reasonable" request? You see how your logic falls apart with the slightest breeze of common sense?
>> It finally dawned on me that the promise made in Matthew 21:21, >> "And all things, whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.", >> was simply bullshit. > >That would be when you received the beast's mark. Your boogeyman satan is simply a religious construct to keep sheep like you in line. Take away god, and satan gets the bum's rush with him.
>> >It's worked so many times for me. >> [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] >This would be GOD's choice made through HIS infinite will which is not >HIS failure but is in accord with HIS master plan. The old "The lord works in mysterious ways" line christians use to explain away what would otherwise appear to a sane person as not concurrent with common sense.
>> >Have you ever felt God's love - I have, in my deepest, darkest moments, >> >He came and I felt His all encompassing love, and that's something I'll [quoted text clipped - 5 lines] > >It is written that the wages of sin is death. It is also written "Please wash your hands after using the toilet." The latter may prevent you from getting ill. The former is vacuous bullshit.

Your ability to "discern" anything is crippled by the spiritual fog that perpetually surrounds you. You have lost the ability to think outside that fog.

The following information is given with the utmost respect for the armed forces and civilians who have died in the current war in Iraq. According to http://icasualties.org/oif/ The number of Americans killed in Iraq as of April 18, 2006 is 2,378. Americans wounded = more than 17,469 United Kingdom = 104 Other = 105 Iraqi deaths are probably in excess of 100,000.
Today, April 19, 2006 it has been 1085 days since Bush declared, "Mission Accomplished in Iraq." And some people still believe what he says.
