Hi,
Has anyone ever had a fungus under the fingernail?
I have it under my ring finger. I've heard about the medications you can
take, but having Afib I don't want to take any more meds...Any answers
please. Maybe an OTC med? Thank you so much....Nel

Externally applied essential oils can help. Some good antifungal essential
oils are tea tree, oregano and tagetes among some others. Most essential
oils need to be diluted before applying to the infected area, but tea tree
oil and lavender oils can be used on small skin areas without diluting. Do
some google search about it.

I have not had fingernail fungus but I have treated athlete's foot
successfully with essential oils (tea tree and lavender). My athlete's foot
did not respond to any medication, so I was very glad to find this
alternative solution which worked quite quickly and without any side
effects. I was able to get rid of the problem completely.

Hi and thanks guys.
My fingernail seems to be pulling away from the finger. Doesn't seem to be
an infection or anything else..How do you get this anyway, hands in water to
much?
Where do I get the essential oils and also how do I get the grapefruit
seed? Do I go to a health food store?
Thanks so much.....Nel

Perhaps a bit off  but athletes  foot a nasty fungus can be cured by
pissing on the affected body part.  Do it in the shower.

Weird Huh?

Well, if there is fungus as you said, there is a fungal infection even if it
does not look like that (if you want to have a diagnosis you should to go to
a doctor). I guess you can find essential oils from alternative health
stores, at least in Finland where I live that is the case.

You could start by trying if plain, undiluted tea tree oil applied 1-2 times
a day to the infected area would work. Just one drop of tea tree oil at a
time it is enough. If that does not work in a couple of weeks, you can
experiment with other essential oils I mentioned. It is best to dilute them
to some base oil, like almond oil. When applied locally to small skin areas
only you can dilute 8 drops of essential oils to 15 ml (1 tablespoon) of
base oil. Apply 1-2 times daily.

The other option is to try grapefruit seed extract as suggested to you by "J
‘O’- DEE". You can buy grapefruit seed extract from the alternative health
stores.

Hi Juhana,
Can Olive oil or vegetable oil be substituted for the almond oil? I'll try
the Tea Tree oil first. I have an appointment with my Dermatologist next
month. Don't know how I could have got such a thing unless its the damp
weather and hands in water. I'll try this first before I call him. I got
some vinyl  disposable gloves yesterday to wear when my hands need to be in
water. I live in Ca. and it's been damp and wet here.  I think the health
food store would have the tea tree oil..thanks very much...Nel

Hi O" Dee,
I don't think I can take the grape fruit extract if it's a pill.  I'm
afraid of the medications I take will interact. I looked at Google and it
seemed it was a pill. Is that what you meant, a pill?.thanks.......Nel

Grapefruit Seed Extract....  It comes in a little bottle with a dropper.....  I
had horrendous 'tinea pedis' (athlete's foot) due to a series of many medical
procedures and diagnostics - must have picked it up walking barefoot to xray,
MRI, etc. for my leg last year...  I kept a bottle of this in the shower - I
would put 3-4 drops on my wet hands and rub it in for a minute or so.....

I also have a spray bottle - water and about 10-12 drops.....  If I am barefoot
or in slippers, I will give a few little random sprays throughout the day....

They say to never put it on 'full-strength' but I don't consider it to be full
strength when I use it in the shower....

I have a friend who had the one funky fingernail - lifting off the nail bed -
peeling, etc. for over 2 years.  She used it and it did wonders for her.

Do a Google search on it...  It's amazing what it can be used for....  I buy the
Inno-vite 'Yeast Busters' brand....

It is also good for one when they travel where one is at risk for 'Montasuma's
Revenge.'  Take the capsules and it creates an environment where those little
bugs don't want to get too comfy....
