I have been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for about 5 years. Recently I
started to take vytorin medication. I am worried that the combination
of the two might damage might liver?
My liver is OK now.

Why do you take it if you worry about it? Why was it prescribed for
you?

Why in the world would you ask this of totally anonymous strangers whom you
can't even see face-to-face?? Of what real value to you would their answers
be? You should always ask your doctor, and you should always insist on a
full answer in language that you readily understand.
That said, go here: http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/sertral_ad.htm and
scroll down to see drug interactions listed for Zoloft. Statins in general
(a component of Vytorin) are not listed. Neither is ezetimibe, the other
component of vytorin. Doing this from the other direction, go here:
http://www.vytorin.com/vytorin/shared/documents/vytorin_pi.pdf and note that
Sertraline Hcl, which is the active ingredient in Zoloft, is not listed as a
drug interacting with Vytorin.

And let's hope that it remains that way. Note that a component of Vytorin
is Zocor, which is a statin, and that in some people, liver damage can
occur, even when Vytorin is taken by itself. Your doctor should tell you to
have periodic blood tests to check on liver enzymes. You should report to
any unusual muscle discomfort that occurs and lingers, another side effect
of potential problems with statins. While the occurence of physically
damaging side effects from statins currently on the market is rare, you
should certainly exercise the precaution of having those periodic tests.
I'm not a doctor. As it happens I do take Vytorin. In combination with
regular exercise and paying attention to my diet, Vytorin has been
marvelously effective in lowering my total cholesterol number and in
lowering LDL (the bad cholesterol).
